The City of Banyule falls within Melbourne’s network of middle ring municipalities that are generally located 20 km from Melbourne’s Central Business District. The City of Banyule is located north east of Melbourne’s Central Business District bounded by the Shire of Nillumbik to the north; City of Manningham generally to the east; City of Boroondara to the south and City of Darebin to the west.
Banyule’s southern and western boundaries are defined by the Yarra River and Darebin Creek respectively, and the Plenty River meanders through the municipality from north to south.
